I dislocated my thumb once and I have no idea how. Both thumbs hurt so I thought it was odd, but carried on for about a week. When I finally went to the doctor they said oh your thumb is broken. The hand doctor said well, if you had come to see me when you first did it I could have popped it back in place. I required surgery and a pin. Right thumb is "just arthritis". My new year's resolution was "don't do whatever I did to dislocate my thumb this year". Apparently it was just part of my routine day - maybe I tripped over my velcro dog and caught myself from falling with my thumbs/hands? Whatever it was, I have not done it again. I hope you feel better soon.

When I was 12, my friend and I were horsing around at the top of a staircase, and I went down. The pain was so bad that my mother took me for X-rays, and they said the sternum was cracked. It hurt for years after, but now I don't think about. Hoping your bruise heals quickly.
