Have you had a bike accident, or an ice accident, or a slippery steps while wearing socks accident, or is there another accident you're due for soon? Have you bruised a bone before, did you know they could bruise? I’ve never broken a bone even though I wanted to so badly as a kid - it seemed so fun to have a cast! Now I realize they’re probably over-selling how fun casts are to hide the fact that having a cast is terrible.
The worst part of any kind of accident is knowing that two seconds before the accident, everything was fine. You were just having a normal day, why couldn’t it have stayed like that?
This Friday is Bike To Work Day in the US and I’ve already been on my bike a few times since my accident, we have free breakfast and coffee for cyclists this week, maybe your city does too!
I’m a volunteer dog walker and somehow Mabel, the world’s prettiest dog, is still available for adoption, if you’re looking for a dog that’s very smart and snuggly and could probably do some modeling or learn to help you with your taxes.
I hope you have a good week with zero bruises and lots of nice animals, and people who hug you and don’t say anything when they know you’re already thinking all the sad things on your own.
I dislocated my thumb once and I have no idea how. Both thumbs hurt so I thought it was odd, but carried on for about a week. When I finally went to the doctor they said oh your thumb is broken. The hand doctor said well, if you had come to see me when you first did it I could have popped it back in place. I required surgery and a pin. Right thumb is "just arthritis". My new year's resolution was "don't do whatever I did to dislocate my thumb this year". Apparently it was just part of my routine day - maybe I tripped over my velcro dog and caught myself from falling with my thumbs/hands? Whatever it was, I have not done it again. I hope you feel better soon.
When I was 12, my friend and I were horsing around at the top of a staircase, and I went down. The pain was so bad that my mother took me for X-rays, and they said the sternum was cracked. It hurt for years after, but now I don't think about. Hoping your bruise heals quickly.
